It was a quiet day outside. The fog had cleared, but the sky was gloomy and cloud seemed ominous. Not that any of this mattered for Aileen; her room was closed away from any outside view (by preference of hers), and as always, an alarm app ruthlessly tunes in her favourite song as loud as it can from the one corner of the room, forcing her to drag herself out of the warm feather blanket and onto the floor, out of the bed which was on the other corner of the room. For a second she struggles to place the phone without her glasses, allowing her hearing senses to do the job as she randomly touches the vibrating screen to put it to a snooze. If this was her old home where she had a large room with soft carpets and air heater that actually functioned, she might have fallen asleep right then and there. Not here, not anymore. Her room was small and dark, and floored with inhumanely cold wooden tiled, with no decent means of heating available. She hugged herself and chivered, not remembering anything of the past at this moment. Things had to go the way they go, period. Shortly after the change of environment, she had gotten used to he new life. She slipped on her woollen slippers, smeared ChapStick on her crackled lip skins, and began putting up her front bangs ibto a top knot with bobbie pins carelessly chattered on her desk. This was her day, her routine, her life.
